Plan for Play is intended to guide the continued stewardship of Central Park’s twenty-one playgrounds. It provides the framework for a program of work to rebuild playgrounds and sustain them into the future. For the past thirty years, the Central Park Conservancy has worked to restore the Park as a whole and has renovated or reconstructed the playgrounds one by one as the need and opportunity aligned. Building on recent accomplishments and experience, and in the context of a renewed Park, now is an opportune time to reexamine the playgrounds as a system for the first time since they were built with the same comprehensive and consistent approach that has been applied to the restoration and management of the Park as a whole.
